This was an exciting day for Alberta 1 after waiting an entire week between races to improve rider discipline, the team was rewarded with Conrado Fraga’s fourth place finish in Italy as well and Meine Berkhout’s unexpected third place on French soil, defeating strong competition such as Ramone Tuero of redop, as well as Jannic De Keijsere of his former team, Torreira.
These unexpected results have led to the reaching of several milestones:
- Conrado Fraga has regained his place on the top of the Portuguese rider standings, which he held when he was traded to Alberta 1, but had been taken over by Fabrício Malta of Delfins Team. Fraga currently sits 19th in the OCM rider rankings.
- Meine Berkhout has taken the Netherlands national jersey off the shoulders Sieuwerd Schimmel of Team RI. We have not been able to confirm whether Berkhout has worn the jersey on the past or not. Strangely enough, despite sitting 1st on the national rankings, Bekhout does not have a place on the Netherlands national team! Rumour has it that NT manager, Harwin Mulder of skils, is upset with Alberta 1 for acquiring Conrado Fraga, a rider he has shown interest in, but has never been able to get his hands on. Either way, Berkhout is thrilled to be atop the National leader board, and says he “couldn’t care less” whether he rides for the NT or not. Meine currently sits 17 in the OCM rider rankings.
- Following the pair of notable results this morning, Alberta 1 has taken the top spot in the national teams’ rankings from teamcanada, who has held the spot since the retirement of Slates. Manager Sean was ecstatic with the recent success of his team and commented that “it is wonderful having two national champion jerseys riding for alberta 1 as the top team in Canada” and that “there is no looking back from here”. Alberta 1 currently sits in a three way tie for 74th in the world standings.
In other news:
- Former team captain, Hamlin Chessman who has recently returned from a brief stay at speedyb, will be competing tomorrow on the cobblestone streets of Epe – Zwolle in Holland, aiming to continue the heroics of his team mates.
- Alberta 1 has now reached the qualifying rank for the Netherlandse Tour in two weeks time. As long as there is no ill luck in the next week, Conrado Fraga will be there competing against some of the best sprinters in the world for tour glory.

Netherlandse will be interesting...
too bad I have no leadouts :(
Congrats!
I have never reached the top spot in a national ranking (I had several riders reaching n°2!)
See you in Nederlandse Tour (I hope)
With the team you have getting to Top Division should not be a problem at all, staying there constantly for more than one season is a real challenge :)
Oh and good luck in Netherlands. Fraga bombed there for me 3 seasons back, but then he was knackered from Germany.
lookin good ;)
Thanks, he told me he would make up for not winning this race by cleaning up in Netherlandse :D
Congrats on a 4th for Fraga and 1000 points. Thought he was going to win his first race for you, but lots of time to do that in the future.
I'm always thinkin' ahead :)
Next captain?
Well I know Team Atlantic and Razor Racer both have, but I understand they both cheated, I'm not aware of any Canadian team that has made it "cleanly"
I don't think I'm gonna TT Fraga, i think my money would be better used else ware and I'll TT my next captain.
Yeah! You made it! Decided on wether to TT center? So 3 accomplishments all having to do with a national team. Has a Canadian team been in the top division before?
